Inthecountrieswhereinitiativeshavebeensuccessful，theyhaverelevantlymobilisedgayrepresentativegroupstospreadknowledgeaboutHIVandthemodesofitstransmission；providedinformationcampaignstargetedatsuchgroups；educatedpoliceandotherofficialssoastoreducetheharassmentandalienationofthiscohort；promotedandadoptedlawsandpoliciesaffordingprotectionandredressagainstdiscrimination，inequalityoftreatmentandviolence；andacceptedstrategiestoencourageamorerationalandinformedpublicawarenessoftheexistenceofsexualminoritiesandanunderstandingoftheirhumanneeds，whicharesubstantiallythesameasthoseofothercitizens.
Mixedmessages：DespitethedangersofmixingthemessagesofsexualequalityandHIVpreventionandcare，theadventofHIVdoesrequireofallsocietiesintheworldamorerationalandinformedapproachtowardstherealworldofhumansexualdiversity.
