Snow has always been a cozy[舒適的] feature of the Winter. Cozy, of course, if you’re inside by the fire and not standing out in a blizzard[暴風雪]. Making your own snow is perfect for Science Projects when school starts up again, or for adding another seasonal decoration for the house.

All you need is sodium polyacrylate[聚丙烯酸鈉]. No problem, right? Actually, sodium polyacrylate is an active ingredient[成分] in astronauts’ “maximum absorbency[吸收性] garments[服裝],” fire-control gels[凝膠], soil conditioners[土壤改良劑], those toys that grow when you add water, and disposable diapers[紙尿褲]. The compound[化合物] can absorb a lot of water.

Note: If decorating with this snow, you may want to have the drier variety, and make sure not to place it on items that can be damaged by water. For colorful snow(want to do a yellow snow prank[開玩笑]?) just add food coloring to the mix. Just a few drops will go a long way.

For snow purposes, you can find sodium polyacrylate in clean disposable diapers. If you get a few you should be able to collect the fluffy[蓬鬆的] white stuff and make your snow.
