2003年，一首充滿張力的搖滾勁曲《Harder to Breathe》悄悄地進占了全球各地的電台，這首夾帶著戲劇性內容和唱腔而讓人一聽就上癮的歌曲，為這支五人團體Maroon 5（魔力紅樂隊）打開了進軍世界的大門。
來自美國加州的Maroon 5，一共有五名成員，主唱/吉他手Adam Levine，吉他手James Valentine，鍵盤手Jesse Carmichael，貝司手Mickey Madden，鼓手Ryan Dusick。幾名成員從小就認識並在高中的時候就組了一支叫做Kara’s Flowers（卡拉的花）的樂隊，他們的音樂才華，為他們在高中一畢業，就贏得了與主流唱片公司簽約的機會。幾年的大學生活結束之後，幾名成員又在加州見麵，發現大家對音樂的熱情還是沒有熄滅，於是Maroon 5，一個新的樂隊就又誕生了。
新的名字，新的音樂理念，Maroon 5又一次得到了不同唱片公司的青睞。2002年6月，Maroon 5的首張專輯《Songs About Jane》問世了，截至目前為止，該專輯已經賣出超過300萬張。Maroon 5還獲得了第47屆格萊美最佳新人獎提名，並成為首個表演嘉賓團體，該樂隊融合靈魂、朋克、搖滾的樂風在搖滾樂壇前所未見，被譽為“新靈魂樂界的第一搖滾樂隊”。
