大城市小故事
Dear Editor,
I’m a high school student and an English lover. I have read the Crazy English for only few months, but I have already been attacted.
I want to learn English well, not only for the exams, but also to use it as a language. Speaking English fluently is what I yearn for. So I screw up my courage to write to you .
My favourite part of Crazy English is Screen Talk because it can expand my knowledge and I love watching films.
I will keep listening to Crazy English. But it’s not easy to learn English very well. Can you give me more constructive suggestions?
Yours Faithfully
莫莫
Dear MoMo,
It’s great that you are writing in English. With a little more practice your written English could be very good!
I would suggest watching the news or listening to the radio on your computer (BBC news), though it may be a little boring, the English will be very good and the accent spoken will be a standard one. Though watching movies can be fun, they can sometimes be misleading as some of the conversations are a little unrealistic and created just to make the movie more exciting.
I would also suggest reading. Read, read, read, and read! Reading is very important and can really help you enlarge your vocabulary. Even though I am an English native, I still learn new words every day by reading as much as I can.
Finally, don’t be afraid to ask questions about how to say English words. Don’t be shy or get embarrassed, many of us Westerners don’t know any Chinese!
Good luck!
Simon
