今天去Union聽了Stephen Fry的talk，其實在這周之前我並不知道他這個人，隻是周一指環王來的時候提到Stephen Fry並調侃了幾句，我才翻了翻郵件注意到他。
“Hugely popular British comedian， writer and presenter， Fry is most famous for his acting roles as Jeeves in Jeeves and Wooster， Oscar Wilde in Wilde， and hosting the BBC quiz show QI. He is also the voice of the Harry Potter books to a generation of listeners. While studying English Literature at Cambridge， Fry frequently performed with the Cambridge Footlights and appeared on University Challenge. He is currently President of Mind and is outspoken on number of topics ranging from religion to LGBTQ issue.”

確實Steven Fry的知名度在國內會少很多，但在英國甚至整個歐美Steven Fry的奧斯卡王爾德形象依然深入人心。就連今天Union President 的開場介紹詞都稱讚了一番他的人格魅力

They might went for the World Cup， they may have acted in a particularly successful film， they may done something truly amazing and sometimes they have said or done something truly terrible， every now and then we do invite people who are famous and amazing and worth being invited simply arguably because of the shape of their personality. 我喜歡他說的關於如何麵對LGBT被人質疑的回答，但了解到他年輕時曾多次被學校開除以及因為盜用別人的信用卡而進監獄的事情後，我並沒有覺得他有多麼吸引人。人總是這樣吧，不要說那是年輕時候不懂事，他之後改過自新了之類的話，曾經有過不良記錄就永遠不能被掩蓋，因為你明明曾經有機會選擇不做那些事情的啊。所謂君子慎獨也。所以就算是我喜歡他演的王爾德，我也無法喜歡上他了。
2014年11月6日周四
今天中午和Jeffery （丁爵坤）、董宇流、Mamba一起去吃Sasi Thai的時候，收到了何藍給我發的Matlab資料，他按照該學習的順序幫我把pdf文件都依次標注好了，還整理了一些小的project讓我每周試著自己去寫一個model，沒有給答案，但是有給hint和標注出了容易出錯的地方。Jeffery在一旁掃了幾眼說“這些資料很用心，比我給你的好多了，你好好學！”我忽然覺得自己背靠好幾座大山，和平常吃的一樣的套餐都覺得美味了許多。今天的Crispy Pork格外的好吃！
晚上數學係的程心請我去吃了 St Peter’s 的formal，formal前她聽說我最近在學Matlab的事情後，也把數學係的Matlab課件資料發了我一份。
我和程心在dining hall門口偶遇了也來吃formal的柳芸和洪絲雨，我們便一起坐在了靠近high table 的角落裏。原來洪絲雨也是這個college的學生。
今天是Bonfire Night為主題的formal，前菜是南瓜紅薯湯，主菜是烤羊腿，最讓人驚喜的是今天的甜點，是巧克力片裹著的開心果冰淇淋，上麵插著剛點燃的小煙花棒，當staff們一個個端著點燃的甜點serve給每一個人時，我們仿佛在點點星空下看了一場絢爛的煙花秀，每個人臉上都洋溢著喜悅興奮，連坐在我旁邊的法國和美國同學都不驚感歎’ How exciting!’‘This is amazingly surprising!’可惜的是今天我又穿著毛衣裙披著gown就出門吃formal了，似乎我又一次辜負了這樣夢幻的formal場景。絲雨為了讓我彌補今天的遺憾，馬上定了下周而的formal，讓我下周二美美的再來St Peter’s吃一次。
Formal結束後我和程心隨著人群慢悠悠的走出dining hall，程心突然推了推我的手臂和我說前麵有個男生回頭看了我們好幾眼，我帶著好奇的心情跳起來想看清是誰，卻發現自己沒有帶眼鏡出門，看到的隻是大同小異披著gown的背影，隻好作罷。
今天的sheet有點簡單，不到一個小時便寫完了，Matlab的學習在有了大家的友情讚助後也漸入佳境。
