The superior man restrains his wrath and represses his desires.——- from The Great Symbolism, Sun

Modern interpretation: Check your anger and block up your lust.

Moral: A man’s mood and desire can be controlled by his willpower and belief.

Glossary: In Sun the upper trigram is Gen and the lower Dui. Gen symbolizes a mountain which asks for an ascending movement, whereas in Dui, the symbol of a marsh, flowing waters represents diminution. Anger comes as a mountain rises. So a noble man should keep the image of the rising mountain in mind and avoid his anger. Man’s lust fills a man as water drowns him. So a noble man should keep the image of waters and give up his lust.
