137.君子上交不諂,下交不瀆。——出自《係辭下》
今譯:德行端正的人與權貴富人相處而不諂媚,與卑下者交往也不輕視怠慢。
衍言:做人一不要銅臭,二不要勢利。
《周易》小詞典:毛奇齡(1623-1713),字大可,號初晴,浙江蕭山人,康熙時任翰林院檢討、明史館纂修官等職,著有《仲氏易》。
The superior man, in his intercourse with the high, uses no flattery, and, in his intercourse with the low, no coarse freedom.——- from The Great Treatise, Section II
Modern interpretation: A virtuous man never fawns on the high and despises the low in his intercourse with them.
Moral: Conduct yourself, not stinking of money or being snobbish.
Glossary: Mao Qiling (1623—1713), styled name Dake, and nickname Chuqing, came from Xiaoshan of Zhejiang. During the Kangxi administration, he served as an inspector of the Imperial Academy, Editor-compiler of Ming Dynasty history, and so on. He wrote Zhong Shi Yi ( Zhong’s Commentary onThe Book of Changes).
