寒鴉知道自己的長相醜陋不堪，於是就去搜集同伴們掉在地上的羽毛，並用它們來裝扮自己，希望能成為最漂亮的鳥。
預定的日子到了，鳥兒們都把自己打扮得漂漂亮亮，來到朱庇特麵前。朱庇特發現寒鴉的羽毛非常漂亮，打算任命他為國王。鳥兒們非常憤慨，將寒鴉團團圍住，把他身上屬於自己的羽毛都拔了下來。結果，寒鴉恢複了本來麵目，依舊醜陋不堪。
