蜂王把最甜美的蜂蜜獻給了朱庇特。朱庇特許諾會答應她所有的請求，於是蜂王就懇求朱庇特能夠賜予她武器 ——毒刺，來懲罰那些強奪他們蜂蜜的人類。朱庇特左右為難了，一方麵他要保護人類，一方麵他又要遵守和蜂王的約定。思考再三之後，朱庇特對蜂王說： “我可以答應你的請求，但是那會威脅到你們的生命。將來，你們使用毒刺的時候也是你們失去生命的時候。 ”
