一頭豹不小心掉進了一個陷阱裏，有些牧羊人路過看見了，不僅沒有幫他擺脫困境，反而用木棍和石頭打他。但也有很多好心的村民給豹子一些食物，幫助他延長生命。晚上，牧羊人回家了，恢複體力的豹子從陷阱裏跳出來跑掉了。
豹子在家中休養了幾天，等恢複元氣之後，就跑到牧羊人所在的村子把攻擊過他的牧羊人全都殺死了，還咬死很多羊。其餘的村民非常害怕，就主動把自家的羊送到豹子麵前，乞求他隻把羊吃掉，而不要傷害他們的性命。豹子回答道： “我是恩怨分明的，誰攻擊我，誰給我食物，我心裏記得很清楚。你們不用擔心，我隻報複傷害過我的人。 ”
傷害才會產生敵意。
