課文注釋
① start to do sth.: 開始做某事。例：Thearted a ries of experiments. 然後他就開始做一係列的實驗。When did you start to read? 你什麼時候開始讀書的？ start doing也有“開始做某事”的含義，但是，下列三種情況下，start後隻跟不定式：1）start用進行時時，後麵動詞用不定式to do。例：I was starting to get angry。 我開始生起氣來。2）當start後接的動詞為表示心理活動的動詞如uand， realize等時，後接to do sth.；例：I start to uand the truth.
我開始明白真相。3）句子主語是物不是人的時候，後接to do sth.；例：The iron started to melt. 鐵開始融化。
② steal the attention: 吸引注意力。例如：Here ducks and es, rabbits and deer all steal your attention. 在這裏，鴨子、仙鶴、野兔和小鹿不由得吸引了大家的注意力。
③ Mind your business. 別管閑事；不要管閑事。例：Right, you men! Mind your business! Back to work! 好了好了，夥計們！不要管閑事！回去幹活！
④ not a single: 一個也沒有。例：There was not a single car ireet. 街上連一輛車也沒有。
⑤ aware: adj. 意識到的；知道的；有……方麵知識的；懂世故的。例：The bear was aware of the threat. 那頭熊意識到了危險。
⑥ work: 在這裏是“ 起作用；(藥物等)奏效”的意思。例：I took the medie, but it didn’t work. 我服藥了，但是它不起作用。
