查爾斯·斯普雷格（1791—1875）
他出生於波士頓，曾就讀於波士頓公學。他一生中曾有16年的經商生涯，但僅僅是店員或合夥人。1820年，他成為了一家銀行的出納，1825年以後，他一直擔任銀行的司庫職務。查爾斯·斯普雷格一直忙於工作，因此一生的著作極少。
