The author\\u0027s whole writing attitude is full of irony. When the author arranges the names of twenty prostitutes into \\\"Niannujiao\\\", \\\"Qinyuanchun\\\", \\\"Moyuer\\\", \\\"Manjianghong\\\"... It is easy for us to appreciate the author\\u0027s irony towards Chinese tradition. The strong ironic mentality of the culture is consistent with the author\\u0027s depiction of May Day marriage in The Narrative. If the latter expresses a mockery of the mainstream ideology of reality, the former expresses a dislike of traditional orthodox language. Therefore, it is not difficult for us to appreciate the cultural sadness that the author experienced when looking back at history at the end of the century.
Isolated Island is about the power shift and change among Lei Gongzui, Wen Tingsheng, and Xiong Xiangkui. Here, people are no longer people in the normal sense, but have become power machines. Everything revolves around that apex, and that apex is \\\"power, which is the ruling power that governs others and controls the soul and body of others.\\\" The author profoundly reveals the cruelty, hatred, murder, conspiracy, etc. caused by power, which eventually leads to the alienation of human beings into humans. This is a state of self-lost in front of power.
Bi Feiyu is a novelist full of metaphysical meaning. From his perspective, reality is \\\"full of uncertainty\\\", while history is full of \\\"profound spirit\\\". However, both the \\\"uncertain state\\\" and \\\"profound spirit\\\" are unified by Bi Feiyu into a time flow of priori space and wandering, but Bi Feiyu does not therefore regard history as a teleological process. For him, time contains history, not history contains time. He laughed loudly at those who are fascinated by history. He said that those who often review history are either fools or have ulterior motives. That\\u0027s what makes his historical novels different from historical novels in the traditional sense. Historical novels in the traditional sense are always dominated by historical truths that lie outside historical sentiments, and are mostly full of unnecessary trivial historical details. In Bi Feiyu\\u0027s case, the opposite is the case: historical sentiment has led to a boundless past, and therefore history is presented in Bi Feiyu\\u0027s novels as a state of \\\"complementary narration\\\", integrated into synchronicity by historical philosophy. The diachronic nature, which was regarded as the essential attribute of history in the past, has been dispelled, and this dispelling method has become particularly obvious in Narration. In this novel, Bi Feiyu unifies history and reality into a synchronic system for the first time.
The objectivity of history gave way to the subjective state of the writer. The author does not want to construct a self-sufficient and closed historical story. Instead, he just shows a state of existence, which is completely \\\"realistic\\\" under the cloak of history, published in Isolated Island in 1991. It is obviously different from Chu Water and Narration published in 1994. Isolated Island represents a style of the past. It is a historical fable. The author concentrates on the meaning of the matter rather than the state of the matter. If Isolated Island is a historical fable, then Chu Water and Narration are broken historical fables. Bi Feiyu entered 1994 with Chu Water and Narration, and at the same time entered a new state of writing.
If Isolated Island is a symbol, in which a metaphorical world where people are purely connected with power is built. the authors of Chu Water and Narration deliberately dismantled the symbol, and changed hands to enhance the novelty, degree and popularity. It undoubtedly provides more joy to the world of novel texts, and leaves more room for readers to experience the pleasure of reading.

3 When Bi Feiyu focused his gaze on reality, his language began to fragment into philosophical contemplation. In this type of novel, there is usually a narrator who is a college student or a graduate student or even a PhD. This intellectual narrator is directly involved. In the narrative ability, a closer connection between the narrator and the ability is formed. Such novels are easily reminiscent of Yu Dafu and his autobiographical novels in the history of modern Chinese novels. Certainly, the connotation of life in this type of novel has faded. Bi Feiyu is no longer obsessed with the truth and continuity of life but pays more attention to his own mentality. The novel has become a more casual and loose style, and the inner tension of the novel no longer relies on the traditional plot, characters, details, but more on the author\\u0027s keenness of life and language wit, this kind of reading more leads to a kind of contemplation.
It is necessary to mention May Nineth or Tenth. There is no story in the traditional sense. There is just an incident: the wife\\u0027s ex-husband visited unexpectedly, but the author did not pay attention to the incident itself, or even disdain it. In explaining the ins and outs of the incident, the author is only concerned with the \\\"state\\\" between \\\"I\\\" and the wife caused by this incident. Due to the arrival of the wife\\u0027s ex-husband, the original stable state between \\\"I\\\" and the wife has been broken, and it has become an uncertain state. May Nineth or Tenth wants to express this \\\"uncertainty state\\\", which the author refers to as \\\"triangular silence\\\" state. The author does not attempt to construct a metaphorical world behind the text of the novel, but regards the presentation of this state as the purpose itself. When this state continues to diffuse and infiltrate the entire heart of \\\"I\\\" and his wife, \\\"uninvited guest\\\", but I don\\u0027t know when he has already left. Perhaps this uninvited guest has never appeared at all. The state of \\\"triangular silence\\\" originally fell between \\\"I\\\" and my wife. Even if the \\\"uninvited guest\\\" does not appear, this state will eventually occur. This is a state of uncertainty between people, unable to grasp each other, unable to balance each other, this unstable state makes people feel suspicious but unable to get rid of.
It is worth noting that the language of this novel is a completely brand-new style. Although it is a short story, its position in Bi Feiyu\\u0027s novels cannot be ignored. Bi Feiyu began to perform a scholarly speculative language in this novel, and the strength of this language was once again proved in Narration published in 1994. In order to clarify the characteristics of this language more specifically, it is essential to make some quotations:
I have read a handful of books, and I know his great historical significance and profound practical significance. Our saints, sages, sages, hermits and great men disappear in history books with laughter and reclusiveness. I also noticed the solemnity and admiration that the historians put into laughing away. They described the turning point of history in this way... They laughed away.\\\"
In a sense, the above-mentioned quotations are very typical. Bi Feiyu often breaks away from the fictional skills and exaggerates his historical contemplation. This is quite similar to Wang Gan\\u0027s recent summary: \\\"They (the writers) have time and reason to write for themselves. This is the salivation of intellectual narrators. Therefore, the narrators in the novels of \\\"new state\\\" are often righteous and bold, often talented, and have a bit of vigor, guidance, and motivating words. Poetry and philosophy can also be the narrator\\u0027s hands. Sometimes, there is no discrepancy between certain chapters of the novel of the new state from the prose, academic essays, or even thesis in the heart alone...\\\". This style of poetics and philosophy entering the novel without scruples has been strengthened in Narration, giving Narration a higher metaphysical flavor.
IV
A critic once said that criticism is an adventure for the soul. Sure it is. Criticism is often not a closeness to the author and his textual world, but a distance from the real world. Perhaps my interpretation is the same. Any generalization will make the truthfulness and vividness of the details impossible, thus making the essence more hidden. However, I am sure that Bi Feiyu will attract the attention of readers in our commercial age with his broad historical compassion and profound philosophical atmosphere. It may be inappropriate to make a premature judgment on this, but time will prove it.
