春秋霸主齊桓公，
有兩位大臣很有名：
一個名叫鮑叔牙，
一個名字叫管仲。
他二人之間友誼深，
一直為後人所稱頌。
傳說那齊襄公的兒子有兩個，
父王死後兄弟便把王位爭。
大公子小白二公子糾，
爭王位兄弟動刀兵。
在當時鮑叔牙深得小白的信賴，
公子糾喜歡的卻是管仲。
自從齊國鬧內亂，
二位公子在國外觀動靜。
在回國搶奪王位的途中，
兩兄弟在莒地交了鋒。
管仲的箭兒射得準，
小白被他一箭射中了護心鏡，
箭射在鏡旁帶鉤上，
鮑叔牙連聲喚“主公”，
讓小白佯裝受了傷，
到晚上卻連夜催馬趕進城。
管仲護衛公子糾，
卻在途中慢慢行，
滿以為小白早已死，
其實落在鮑叔牙的計謀中。
不久小白即王位，
便是那赫赫有名的齊桓公。
齊桓公派人殺死了公子糾，
同時下令囚管仲。
鮑叔牙與管仲是好友，
忙找桓公去求情，
誇管仲滿腹經綸智謀多，
整軍治國有才能。
勸桓公及早放了他，
用他治國早立功。
桓公說管仲本是大仇人，
放了他一箭之恨不能平。
叔牙說自古賢君無私怨，
對待臣子要寬容。
管仲他既然能效忠公子糾，
也能替主公立新功。
更何況您早想稱霸中原地，
缺了管仲怕不成！
齊桓公果然聽從叔牙話，
當即派叔牙去親迎。
迎來之後以禮待，
委以重任放心用。
管仲輔佐齊桓公，
國力日益變強盛。
終於稱霸於天下，
那桓公還以“仲父”稱管仲。
管仲到了晚年後，
常提起鮑叔牙當年情。
他常說：“生我身的是父母，
鮑叔牙知我薦我恩義重。
既虧鮑叔牙了解我，
也虧桓公把我用。”
“管鮑之交”作成語，
常比喻知心朋友情深重。
Bosom Friends，Guan and Bao
In the Spring and Autumn Period（770—476B。C。），Duke Huan of the State of Qi was a war-lord。He had two ministers in his court，one was Bao Shuya，and the other was Guan Zhong。The friendship between them was profound，and it passed down to later generations。
It is said that Duke Xiang of Qi had two sons，and they were peting for the rank of Duke。One of the sons was Xiaobai and the other was Jiu。When peting they fought tit for tat。At that time Bao Shuya was trusted by Xiaobai，but Prince Jiu preferred Guan Zhong。
When the civil war broke out，the two princes were living abroad to observe。But on their way home to grab the duke rank，the two brothers met and fought at Ludi。Guan Zhong shot out an arrow，and Xiaobai was shot on the hook of the belt of the chest of his coat of amour。
Bao Shuya called out“Your Majesty”repeatedly，and he let Xiaobai pretend to have been wounded。In the evening he hastened their horses to the city。Meanwhile Guan Zhong was acpanying Prince Jiu，at a snail pace on the way back，thinking that Xiaobai must have been dead。Without being aware that they were actually falling into a trap。
