想不到她在海裏戲水時，
被淹死沉在巨浪下。
女娃的靈魂含冤憤，
後來把一隻鳥兒化。
變成的鳥兒叫“精衛”，
每日裏鳴叫似說話。
往返於東海西山間，
銜些木塊石頭不算大。
這靈鳥胸藏怨憤要報複，
艱難險阻它不怕，
發誓要填平東海千頃浪，
感動得天下的生靈都欽佩它。
到後來“精衛填海”這成語，
常比喻做事堅持到底決心大。
Bird Jingwei Tring to Fill the Sea
A legend goes that the ancient Emperor Yan had a daughter called Nü Wa。One day she went to play by the East China Sea。Unfortunately when swimming，she was drowned in the deep sea。Her spirit was so furiously angry after she died that it changed into a bird。
This bird was known as“Jingwei”，and it twittered and twittered like a human being talking。The bird flew back and forth between the sea and the mountain，carrying small twigs and stones。This spiritual bird was intent on revenge，regardless of any danger and hardships by trying to fill up the deep and large sea，which impressed all the living things in the world。
Later“Jingwei Trying to Fill the Sea”became an idiom，in praise of someone who always sticks to his goal。
