公元228年的一天，
諸葛亮帶兵打祁山，
那時候三國鼎立勢已成，
祁山屬於魏國管。
諸葛亮身為西蜀相，
有一位將領他很喜歡，
這個人名字叫馬謖（sù），
自恃才高很健談。
自以為兵書讀得不算少，
經常對用兵打仗陳己見。
盡管是孔明對他很器重，
劉玄德卻深知馬謖有缺點。
劉備在臨終前反複叮囑諸葛亮，
說馬謖之才很一般，
言過其實不虛心，
使用一定要慎重點，
切不可委以重任去領兵，
諸葛亮卻並不以為然。
過不久任命馬謖做參軍，
經常跟他把兵書談。
這一次孔明帶兵打祁山，
先鋒官，大家都估計是魏延。
沒想到孔明竟然封馬謖，
叫他領兵走在前，
還讓他立了軍令狀，
可馬謖，全不把魏兵放心間。
到後來丟失街亭要塞地，
被魏兵殺敗實在慘。
諸葛亮又一次伐魏成泡影，
退回漢中把氣歎。
軍紀軍法當嚴肅，
隻得忍痛含淚把馬謖斬。
“言過其實”作成語，
常形容不切實際尚空談。
言語誇大吹牛皮，
必然失敗落笑談。
His Words Are More than His Real Talent
One day in the year of 228 A。D。，Zhuge Liang led his troops to attack Qishan Mountain。At that time，the Three Kingdoms had already formed the pattern of tri-pot。Qishan was the territory of the kingdom of Wei。Zhuge Liang，the prime minister of the kingdom of Shu had one favourite general by the name of Ma Su，who was quite self-confident and had a silver-tongue。He was so well-read about the art of war that he often stated his strategies before battles。
Although Zhuge Liang liked him very much，Liu Bei knew very well Ma Su had shortings。Before his death Liu Bei repeatedly told Zhuge Liang that Ma Su was only a mon talent。His words were more than his real talent and he knew nothing about modesty。He told Zhuge Liang to be careful of him，and he should not trust him as much as to appoint him to too high a post。But Zhuge Liang didn't take it seriously。Before long he appointed Ma Su as a military consultant，and talked often with him about the art of war。
