從前有個人相媳婦，
腿腳不好是個瘸子，
擔心被人家看出來，
那樣人家肯定不願意。
小夥子冥（mínɡ）思苦想一整夜，
終於想出個好主意，
就在與姑娘相會時，
專門借匹好馬騎。
遠望著那邊過來一娉婷（pīnɡtínɡ），
麵龐長得很秀麗。
手拿一朵玫瑰花，
放在麵前聞香氣。
小夥子見到姑娘這樣美，
對自己雙腿也不留意，
別提心中多高興，
樂得輕聲哼小曲。
那姑娘眼見一騎翩翩來，
馬上端坐個小夥子，
模樣英俊又威武，
不由心中生歡喜。
雙方定聘下彩後，
日月穿梭過得急。
轉眼已是一年整，
小夥要把媳婦娶。
擇了佳期娶新人，
洞房裏頭鬧騰騰，
眾人簇擁新人拜天地，
到晚間眾人散去洞房靜，
小夥子把媳婦蓋頭忙揭起，
原來這姑娘臉盤雖然長得好，
嘴唇上邊卻沒鼻子。
兩隻窟窿朝著天，
螃蟹樣嘶啦嘶啦直吹氣。
姑娘也朝小夥看，
兩條腿一長一短是瘸子。
到後來，故事變作一成語，
“走馬觀花”多有趣！
既形容心情愉快人得意，
也比喻觀察事物不仔細。
還說的是：
你用走馬掩腳殘，
她用聞花隱鼻缺，
己短可以掩，
他殘也難見。
巧掩短來巧亦拙，
男女雙方都傻極！
Ride a Horse to Look at Flowers
In ancient times，a man went to find his would-be-wife。He was lame in one leg。He feared that he might be found out，and that they wouldn't permit the marriage。He thought and thought for a whole night，and he thought out a very good idea。On that very day，he borrowed a good horse to ride。He saw from a distance a fair lady with a very very beautiful face。She was holding a rose in her hand，and was smelling it。
Our young lad found his young beauty。Forgetting all about his lame leg，he felt like he was in heaven，and he started humming melodious music。This lass was noticing this gentle rider sitting graciously on horseback。He was strong and handsome，and she was overjoyed in the heart。Then they engaged with each and other，and time went by like a moving shuttle。Very soon one year had passed。Our lad wanted to make our lass his bride。The wedding day saw a crowded wingding。People huddled there to give them a wedding ceremony。
