29.開國承家,小人勿用。——出自《師·上六爻》
今譯:開拓疆域,繼承事業,都要選擇優秀人才,需提防並剔除品質惡劣的小人。
衍言:事業成功的關鍵在於建立良好領導核心並防止權力失落。
《周易》小詞典:國與家在古代指諸侯與卿大夫之封地。《師》卦坎下坤上,坤為土,有開國承家之象。小人在當時也往往可指平民。《師》卦陰爻重疊,小人之象。變艮為止,勿用之象。
The great ruler appoints some to be rulers of states, and others to undertake the headship of clans; but inferior men should not be employed in such positions.——- from The Topmost Line, Divided, Shi
Modern interpretation: Excellent personal are carefully chosen to develop frontier regions and carry on the cause. In such matters we should take precautious against inferior men of evil character and exclude them at all in employment.
Moral: A good leading body and prevention of the power loss is the key to success.
Glossary: An ancient state and family were regarded as a feudal estate. Shi is a hexagram with the trigram Kan below and the trigram Kun above, where Kun represents the earth, symbolizing the destiny to found a state or being granted titles as the nobles. In those days small men often referred to common people. The duplication of weak (Yin) lines (- -) is the image of inferior men. The changed hexagram Gen denotes the end, implying not using further.
