有個富翁去市場上買了一隻鵝和一隻天鵝。他把鵝養在籠子裏，準備日後宰了吃。他喂養天鵝是為了聽他美妙的歌聲。一天，鵝的厄運來臨了。廚師接受主人的命令去籠子裏抓鵝，可是當時天太黑，廚師分辨不出鵝與天鵝，結果錯把天鵝當成了鵝準備宰殺。天鵝預感到死期將至，情急之下唱起了悲歌，聽到歌聲的廚師一下子就明白自己弄錯了，連忙把天鵝放了。天鵝靠著自己的歌聲死裏逃生。
