這一對短語看來好像是同義語，其實並不然。
at prent的意思是“現在”、“眼下”，相當於英語的now或at the prent time; for the prent的意義是“暫時”、“在當前短時間內”，相當於英語的for the time being。
She is at prent away on her holiday in Hawaii.
目前她在夏威夷度假。
At prent he is Professor of English at the Uy of Hong Kong.
現在他是香港大學的英文教授。
We stay in his hou for the prent.
我們現在暫時住在他的家裏。
I ''t remember his name for the prent.
他的名字我一時記不起來了。
You may leave the matter as it is for the prent.
你可以暫且讓事情保持現狀。
下麵是英語初學者常犯的錯誤：
They are in Beijing for the prent.（錯）They are in Beijing at prent.（對）他們目前在北京。
That will be enough at prent.（錯）That will be enough for the prent.（對）就當前來說，這已足夠了。
另一點要注意的是，at prent不能改作at the prent; for the prent不能改為for prent。
