這兩個詞的詞義頗相近，但有細微的差異。
cost的意思是“成本”或“原價”（the amount of money o make or buy something）; price的意思是“定價”或“價格”（the amount of mohat you must pay in order to buy it），它指賣方出售的價錢，因此，price通常比cost高。
有一點相同的是，cost和price都能用作名詞和動詞。

price用於借喻時，指做某事所付出的代價。例：
