everyday的意思是“每日的”、“日常的”、“普通的”（daily,suitable for ordinary days or onplace），隻能作定語, 放在所修飾的名詞之前。它不能分寫成every day。例：
In our everyday life we should pay special attention to enviroal prote.
在日常生活中，我們應該特別注意保護環境。
This is a matter of everyday occurrence.
這是普通常有之事。

在電車上，你可以看到香港的平民百姓。
every day的意思是“每天地”（daily,each day），它隻能作狀語，不能連寫為everyday。例：
He goes to the park to have a little exerci every day.
他每天都到公園做些運動。
You should study English every day.
你應當每天學習英語。
在英語裏，有些用every構成的合成詞可以分寫成兩個字（如every day），當然，分寫後，詞義和用法有所不同；但有些詞則決不能分寫，如：everybody不能分寫成every body；everywhere不可以分寫成every where。
下麵兩個短語的含義請注意：
“every other day”是“每隔一天”；“every four days”是“每隔三天”。例：
Retly,she came to the temple every other day.
最近她每隔一天到廟宇一次。
He sults the doctor every four days.
他每隔三天去看一次醫生。
