這兩個詞都有“過去的”、“既往的”含義，但詞義和使用場合有所不同。
pasd是動詞pass的過去式和過去分詞，當它用作分詞修飾某個名詞時，強調該名詞的被動意思。例：
On our way home we pasd through a picturesque village．（一般過去式）
在回家的路上，我們經過一個風景如畫的村子。
The train has just pasd Shenzhen． (過去分詞作謂語）
火車剛剛開過深圳。
I sider that the days pasd in Hong Kong are memorable．（過去分詞作定語）
我認為在香港度過的日子是值得懷念的。
past不能用作動詞，但它可以用作介詞、副詞、名詞和形容詞。作形容詞時，既可放在所修飾的名詞之前作定語，亦可放在連係動詞之後作表語。例：
We went past the ercial district of the city.（用作介詞）
我們經過城市的商業區。
She walked quickly past.（用作副詞）
她急急忙忙地走過去了。
We ot ge the past.（用作名詞）
過去之事我們是無法改變的。
He was ill during the past week．（用作定語）
上個星期他病了。
Tho times are past forever．（用作表語）
那樣的時代已一去不複返了。
請注意下列詞語中past的位置，有定冠詞the時，past放在所修飾的名詞之前，沒有the時，放在所修飾的名詞之後：
for the past few months; during the past week
for some time past; for a long time past; in times past
請注意下列詞語中past所表達的含義：
