The October Revolution,also known as the Great October Socialist Revolution,Red October,the October Uprising or the Bolshevik Revolution,was a political revolution and a part of the Russian Revolution of 1917.It took place with an armed insurrection in Petrograd traditionally dated to 25 October 1917 Old Style Julian Calendar（O.S.），which corresponds with November 7，1917 New Style（N.S.）.Gregorian Calendar.
It followed and capitalized on the February Revolution of the same year.The October Revolution in Petrograd overthrew the Russian Provisional Government and gave the power to the local soviets dominated by Bolsheviks.The revolution was led by the Bolsheviks,who used their influence in the Petrograd Soviet to organize the forces.Bolshevik Red Guards forces under the Military Revolutionary Committee began to takeover of government buildings on 24 October 1917（O.S.）.The following day,the Winter Palace（the seat of the Provisional government located in Petrograd,then capital of Russia）was captured.
十月革命，也被稱為偉大的十月社會主義革命，十月紅色革命，十月起義或布爾什維克革命，是一場政治革命，也是1917年俄國革命的一部分。彼得格勒發動武裝起義是十月革命的開端，發生在舊曆，即朱利安曆的時間是1917年10月25日，而在新曆，即格利高曆的時間是1917年11月7日。
它是與二月革命在同一年發生。十月革命是以無產階級蘇維埃為主的布爾什維克推翻了在彼得格勒的俄國資產階級臨時政府的運動。這場革命由布爾什維克領導，他們運用其在彼得格勒的影響力進而組織紅軍部隊。在布爾什維克軍事革命委員會的領導下，布爾什維克的紅軍部隊在1917年10月24日（俄曆）控製政府大樓。翌日，冬宮（臨時政府在彼得格勒的中心）被攻陷。

The Soviet Union was a constitutionally socialist state that existed in Eurasia between 1922 and 1991.
The Soviet Union was a single party state ruled by the Communist Party from its foundation until 1990.Even though the USSR was technically a union of 15 independent Soviet republics,its government and economy was highly centralized.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 caused the downfall of the Russian Empire.Following the Russian Revolution,there was a struggle for power between the Bolshevik party,led by Vladimir Lenin,and the anti-communist White movement.In December 1922，the Bolsheviks won the civil war,and the Soviet Union was formed with the merger of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic,the Transcaucasia Socialist Federative Soviet Republic,the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.
