第二十二章
THE BUDDHIST MONASTERY ON LION MOUNTAIN
—For the Buddhist monk who was formerly Emperor Jianwen [1]
A man who was formerly a ruler
Sits cross-legged in darkness
With eyelids lowered
Faint beams cast by an oil lamp
And the stillness of a meditation hall
Give his cassock a touch of unreality
Now and then his eyes open
To see an aged monk
Walk across the threshold
With an unsteady step
He knows it is Ye Xixian, his former councilor
The high official who shares his long exile
Ah, they have grown old now
No life is left them but dreamy memories
No wonder a smile crinkles the ruler抯 eyes
Watching his friend enter the shadows
He realizes that power and exalted rank
Are all too helpless against death and time
Years ago, he gave up believing in anything
For he had seen youthful shapes
Fade away in the river of years
戰栗的
痛苦,既然已經找到了你
我就不會去計較
最後是荊棘還是鮮花落在自己的頭頂
痛苦,我需要你,這不是你的過錯
是我獨自選擇的
A PRAISE SONG FOR PAIN
Pain, at times I have sought you
Not knowing where you could be found
I walked along every avenue
Your countenance was hard to recognize
Pain, this time I found you, and I was the one
Who reached out a warm arm to embrace you
Pain, there is something uplifting about you
When I bring myself to caress you
O galvanizing pain that makes me tremble
Since I have found you
I will not be choosy as to whether
Thorns or garlands will crown me in the end
Pain, I need you, this is not your mistake
This is my own choice
這個世界的歡迎詞
這是一個偶然?
還是造物主神奇的結晶?
我想這一切都不重要
當你來到這個世界
我不想首先告訴你
