38.柔得位得中而應乎乾——出自《同人·彖》
今譯：下級應該把自己放在一個恰當地位而做合宜的事，並積極配合上司。
衍言：減少雙方摩擦的要領是總要有一方保持理性，甘當副手。
《周易》小詞典：《同人》，卦名。《同人》是一個預示著和諧順當的卦，反映了人類和諧意識中四海之內皆兄弟的願望。柔、乾，象征賓主、上下等各類雙方之間的關係，得位得中表示柔方（《同人》卦中的陰爻）處於下卦之中，並與上卦乾相呼應，反映了彼此的和諧。

Modern interpretation: The subordinate should put themselves in a proper positionand work properly, coordinating the superior in work.Moral: To reduce friction, it is essential for either party to stay rational and willing to be the assistant.
Glossary: Tong Ren represents the union of men, hence a hexagram indicating being harmonious and smooth. Represented in it is the idea of brotherliness among people. The weak and Qian symbolize the relationship between the guest and the host, the superior and the subordinate. The central place of the weak indicates that it is in the lower hexagram and responds to the upper hexagram of Qian, thus representing the harmonious relation of each other.
