一般說來,high大都照字麵直解,用於具體的事物或目標, 如:to hold one''s head high(抬高頭); arch high and low(上下尋找); to aim high(針對高標準); the a is running high(海浪滔天); 但high也可用於比喻意思,例:to fix one''s hopes high(寄予厚望); to live high(過奢侈的生活)。例:
Retly prices have rin too high.
They climbed high up the mountain.
His heart beat high.
He aims high in his political ambitions.
Popular s ran high.
如:a highly amusing film(十分有趣的電影); a highly cultivated man(很有教養的人); to speak highly of someone(高度讚揚某人)。例:
Many highly qualified experts were nt to work in Africa.
It is highly fidential.
例如:a high-born person; high-sounding words; a high-pitched voice; high-priced goods; high-heeled shoes; high-backed chairs.
