這兩個詞都是形容詞，又都有“曆史的”含義，但使用場合並不相同。
historic的詞義是“具有曆史意義的”或“曆史上有名的”、“載入史冊的”（important in history or of the times who history has been recorded），經常與之搭配使用的詞有spot,times，culture，city，speech，ge,significe,figure,eveing。例：
The meeting of the Prime Minister of Israel and the King of Jordan is a historic event of our times．
以色列總理和約旦國王的會晤是我們這個時代的曆史性事件。
Our literature and art have undergone a fual，historic ge．
我們的文藝經曆了曆史性的根本變革。
historical的詞義是“曆史的”、“和曆史有關的”（of or ected with history），經常與之搭配的詞有：record,faent,findings,play, novel,muum,development等。例：
Have you paid a visit to the historical muum in New York?
你有沒有去參觀過紐約的曆史博物館？
This book is bad on historical events.
這本書是根據曆史事件撰寫的。
現將historic和historical用在一個句中，以便區別：
There is a description of the historic battle in the historiovel.
在這本曆史小說裏有一段描繪這場曆史上著名的戰役。
語法術語中的“曆史現在時”historic prent和historical prent通用；historifinitive（曆史不定式）也可以和historical infinitive通用。
historic和historical的副詞都是historically。
請注意，historical school不是“曆史悠久的學校”，而是“（社會、經濟、法律學等方麵的）曆史學派”。
