這兩個詞都可以用作副詞和連詞，但使用場合有所不同。請注意下列不同之處：
（一)用作時間副詞時，still放在一般動詞之前，連係動詞之後；yet則一般放在句末。如：
She still lives in Hong Kong.
She is still so young aiful．
Mummy ro early and is w yet.
（二)still一般強調某個動作正在進行之中，譯作“仍”、“還”，大都用於肯定句中；yet表示“直到說話的時候”（up to the time of speaking）的意思,一般譯作“迄今”、“尚”或“已經”，大都用於疑問句和否定句中。如：
My fiill hurts．
我的手指依然在痛。
He is still living at the age of 94.
他94歲仍然健在。
I have no news of her yet.
我至今還沒有她的音訊。
“Has the bell ru？" —“No,not yet.”
“鈴響過了嗎？”——“還沒有。”
請注意分辨下列兩句的不同含義：
Is you brother still here？
你的兄弟還沒有走嗎？
Is your brother here yet？
你的兄弟已到了嗎？
（三)still和yet都可以用作連詞，前者大都作“盡管如此”、“但是”解；後者大都作“然而”解。例：
It''s raining; still I''d like to go.
現在在下雨，但我還是想走。
I know you aren''t a doctor.Still you bandage his cuts.
我知道你不是醫生，盡管如此，你還是可以把他的傷口包紮好的。
The tongue is not steel，yet it cuts．
舌頭不是鋼做的，然而它卻會傷人。
