The Silent Lover
Walter Raleigh(1552-1618)
淺水低語而深水沉默;
Passions are liken' d best to floods and streams,
The shallow murmur, but the deep are dumb;
So,when affection yields discourse, it seems
The bottom is but shallow whence they come,
They that are rich in words, in words discover
That they are poor in that which makes a lover.
The Nymph's Reply to the shepherd
被狂暴的嚴冬任意摧殘;
If all the world and love were young,
And truth in every shepherd's tongue,
These pretty pleasures might me move
To live with thee and be thy love.
Time drives the flocks from field to fold
When rivers rage and rocks grow cold,
And Philomel becometh dumb;
The rest complains of cares to come.
The flowers do fade, and wanton fields
To wayward winter reckoning yields;
A honey tongue,a heart of gall,
Is fancy' s spring, but sorrow's fall.
Thy gowns, thy shoes, thy beds of roses,
Thy cap,thy kirtle,and thy posies
Soon break,soon wither,soon forgotten——
In folly ripe,in reason rotten.
Thy belt of straw and ivy buds,
Thy coral clasps and amber studs,
All these in me no means can move
To come to thee and be thy love.
But could youth last and love still breed,
Had joys no date nor age no need,
Then these delights my mind might move
To live with thee and be thy love.
A DITTY
Philip Sidney(1554-1586)
My true-love hath my heart,and I have his,
By just exchange one for another given:
I hold his dear,and mine he cannot miss,
There never was a better barg ain driven:
My true - love hath my heart, and I have his.
His heart in me keeps him and me in one,
My heart in him his thoughts and senses guides:
He loves my heart,for once it was his own,
I cherish his because in me it bides:
My true-love hath my heart,and I have his.
With How Sad Steps,O Moon
Philip Sidney(1554-1586)
With how sad steps,O Moon,thou climb'st the skies!
How silently,and with how wan a face!
What, may it be that e'en in heavenly place
That busy archer his sharp arrows tries!
Sure,if that long - with - love - acquainted eyes
Can judge of love, thou feel'st a lover's case,
I read it in thy looks;thy languish'd grace,
To me ,that feel the like, thy state descries.
Then,e'en of fellowship,O Moon,tell me,
Is constant love deem'd there but want of wit?
Are beauties there as proud as here they be?
Do they above love to be loved, and yet
Those lovers scorn whom that love doth possess?
Do they call virtue ,there, ungratefulness?
【英國】黎裏John Lyly(約1554-1606)
賭接吻,丘比特敗陣下來;
母親的鴿子,還有麻雀;
頰上生長的玫瑰(如何生長卻無人知曉);
